Creative solutions around your business model

During Easter, various entrepreneurs have realized a drive-thru to safely sell local products such as strawberries or asparagus. This way they could absorb the loss of sales to the catering industry. Gyms and music schools have started offering their classes digitally. Hairdressers sell vouchers that you can use to obtain their services at a later moment. Other companies make part of their digital offer temporarily available for free. Artists give online performances and museums offer online tours of their collection. A mattress producer is now producing face masks.

Business Model tools

With the tools of the Business Model Lab you can get started with adaptations to your business model. With the Business Model Canvas you can quickly map out how you make money today. This is the starting point to consider how things can be done differently. What options and possibilities are available? There are several points of engagement for change in your business model:

  • adapting your proposition to a digital offer for your customers (think of the gyms with digital lessons),
  • choosing other channels (think of the drive-thru where you offer local products directly to consumers),
  • making different use of your resources (think of making your machines suitable for the production of face masks),
  • choosing a different revenue model (think of selling vouchers now for services that you will deliver later).

Business Model cards

For inspiration, we refer to the Business Model Cards, 52 options for adapting your business model. For specific questions you may have about adapting your business model or business operations, take a look at our Start innovating page. There you will find many more practical tools that help you to come up with new ideas.

The Business Model Lab is an initiative of Saxion’s Business Models Lectorate. Do you have questions or ideas? Please contact us via businessmodels@saxion.nl
